What it's used for
Chlorhexidine is commonly used to prevent or treat dental infections.
What to tell your dentist
Before taking chlorhexidine, please tell your dentist if you have are taking disulfiram (Antabuse), or metronidazole as this can interact with chlorhexidine causing severe nausea.
How to use
Always take chlorhexidine as directed by your dentist. When using, swish and spit after 30 seconds. Do not swallow unless otherwise directed.
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose. Use your next dose at the regular time.
Side effects
For some people, using chlorhexidine can cause dry mouth, or mild, non-permanent tooth staining.
Storage
Store at room temperature away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medications away from children and pets.
Properly discard this product when it is expired or no longer needed. You can bring medication to your local pharmacy for disposal.
