What it's used for
Azithromycin is commonly used to prevent or treat dental infections.
What to tell your dentist
Tell your dentist if you have any allergies to azithromycin or other antibiotics, are taking any other antibiotics, or have taken any recently, or have prolonged QT syndrome. Also, inform them if you are taking medications, especially heart medications.
How to use
Take azithromycin exactly as prescribed and finish the full course of treatment (even if you start feeling better). It can be taken with or without food.
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose. Use your next dose at the regular time. Do not double the dose to catch up.
Side effects
Azithromycin can sometimes cause nausea, or diarrhea. If you experience any heart palpitations, please visit the nearest hospital emergency department.
